On Sunday the 19th of August the Kent Open was held. It’s a
tournament I always feel I can do well in. Although the entries were
low the competition was full of world class stars of which included
Sharon Dickson (World Masters Champion) Liesa Conlin (England International
and 7x World Team Champion) and also Jackie Baker (England Team Captain)
The tournament was run to the swiss system and the top 8 players
out would be drawn against each other in the quarter finals.
The top 8 players through were:
1st Sharon Dickson
2nd Emma Cunningham
3rd Liesa Conlin
4th Jools Fane
5th Vanessa Ledger
6th Karen Riches
7th Amy Beauchamp
8th Jackie Backer
Quarter-finals
Sharon Dickson 5-1 Jackie Baker
Jools Fane 5-0 Vanessa Ledger
Liesa Conlin 5-2 Karen Riches
Emma Cunningham 5-0 Amy Beauchamp
Semi-finals
Sharon Dickson 6-2 Jools Fane
Emma Cunningham 6-4 Liesa Conlin
Final
Emma Cunningham 7-4 Sharon Dickson
I was thrilled to have won this event and beat Sharon in the final.
It was an event I have never won and to beat great players along the
way makes it more meaningful.
