On the 7th Feb the Medway MeerKats went
to Yarmouth to defend their title for the second year in a row, winning
the title in 2005 and 2006.
We won our first match of the group 8-0 defeating Derbyshire Ladies
and in our second group game we had a tougher test against Lancashire's
Redrose Ravens but we held together and managed to win 9-7.
Those results seen us through to the last 16 where we had a comfortable
8-2 against GMC Bears. In the quarters we were set up to play our
region 7 rivals "Tolworth Ladies" from Surrey. With all
the girls up for it we came out 8-3 victors.
With just one match from the final and it being 11:00p.m we didn't
want to lose it all now and it was Oxfordshire Ladies that stood in
our way. After a close first 6 frames Medway stepped up taking the
match 8-3 and booking their place in the final for the third year
running against a strong South Yorkshire team.
After a long day Medway wanted to give it one final push to take the
trophy that had been theirs for the past 2 years but unfortunately
it wasn't meant to be. We lost 8-5 after an epic battle to a quality
side. We all were very disappointed but new we did the best could
on the day.
I would like to congratulate South York's on winning their first KO
Cup title.
