Held in Great Yarmouth on the 1st and 2nd March Kent
were going as Region 7 Champions and current National Champions. As
favourites we were the team to beat and we were set a massive test
being drawn into a group of death.
Our group contained top quality teams, South Yorkshire, Staffordshire
and Dorset. With Staffs first we couldn't afford to lose but it looked
likely after going 9-2 down but with the quality in the Kent side
we won 21 out of the next 25 frames to win the match 23-14.
On to play South York's and after losing to them a couple of weeks
prior we wanted revenge. With all the Kent girls on top form it was
never in doubt and we won the match 23-16 hence winning the group.
On Sunday our Semi Final clash was with region 5 champions Buckinghamshire,
again sailed through to the final with a massive 23-8.
In the other Semi South York's came out winners as they ground out
a close match with Surrey the other team representing Region 7 with
a 23-19
The final went closer than we wanted after beating South York's in
the group convincingly. After going 22-19 we managed to fall over
the line 23-21 and retain our title.
Well done Kent. Also congratulations goes to our Kent team mate Liesa
Conlin on winning the National Champion of Champions held on the same
weekend.
